The EU procurement taxonomy
CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) is the standard code system the EU uses to classify every tender. We group the 45 divisions into 12 readable industries — click one to see every live tender in that space.
What is CPV?
The Common Procurement Vocabulary is a single classification system for public procurement, enforced by EU Regulation 2195/2002. Every tender notice on TED carries at least one CPV code so buyers and suppliers speak the same language across all 27 member states.
Codes are 8 digits plus a checksum. The first two identify a “division” (45 = Construction works, 72 = IT services, 33 = Medical equipment). The remaining digits narrow down to specific products or services. Tenders AI maps your company description to the exact codes that match your expertise.
