With the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, the EU+ countries and the European Commission rely increasingly on the EUAA as a centre of expertise for situational awareness on asylum. The EUAA and the Strategic Analysis and Research Sector (SARS) need to further enhance their capacity to provide situational awareness, fill relevant knowledge gaps and respond to the ever-changing asylum-related migration landscape, while facing resource limitations. To do this, SARS needs to outsource some of its data collection activities through procurement, hence spearheading new situational awareness and response capacities in a controlled, manageable and sustainable process.
